Massage Therapies

I trained in Thai Yoga massage with Kira Balaskas at The School of Thai Yoga Massage in London, gaining an Advanced Diploma in 2003 and gained my BTEC Diploma in Sports and Remedial massage from the London School of Sports Massage in 2009.

I offer a unique combination of massage therapies to heal and relax, alleviate aches and pains and treat minor injuries of muscles, and to release blockages within our energy channels, bringing balance to the body.

Fiona is also a qualified Alexander Technique teacher.

The following Massage treatments are available:

Other information:

Therapeutic Massage

Massage is the therapeutic application of touch using a range of movements or strokes upon the skin, muscles and joints. A variety of techniques are used, such as long strokes, kneading, friction and percussion all designed to relax and rejuvenate the body and mind.

Therapeutic Massage of the head #

Massage shortens the recovery time from muscular strain by flushing tissues of lactic acid and other metabolic wastes.

Massage deeply relaxes the body and helps to establish a natural equilibrium to bring about good health.

Massage may relax or stimulate the nervous system, reducing stress hormones and preparing the body for exercise.

Massage also:

  • strengthens the body's circulation
  • improves the immune system and energy levels
  • improves the digestive system
  • strengthens and tones muscles
  • loosens tight muscles
  • breaks down scar tissue and improves the movement of joints.

Benefits include improved circulation, relief from tired and sore muscles, relief from stress and anxiety and an overall increase in energy and well-being.

Full Body Bliss - 1 hour 30 minutes

A very nurturing massage of the whole body to ease aches and pains and to bring about total relaxation - truly blissful!

Tension release - 1hour

A focused massage working on specific areas of tension with varying pressure depending on your individual needs.

Great for releasing tension and easing any niggling aches and pains. This massage is tailor-made to suit what your body requires.

# Therapeutic Massage of the upper back

Mini Stress Buster - 30 minutes

A 'quick fix' massage relieving tension in the neck, face, head and shoulders. Great for those with limited time or in-between treatments.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage helps to alleviate aches and pains and treats minor injuries of muscles, ligaments and tendons.

Therapeutic massage of the shoulder #

It helps to restore the tissues by increasing blood supply to the area and stretching the muscles.

Sports Massage also breaks down scar tissue and adhesions which may have built up following injury or overuse and so helps to create more freedom of movement and prevent future injury.

Injuries may be as a result of over use or strain, whether it is from playing sport or, for example, sitting at the computer.

The practitioner uses a variety of techniques from friction, neuromuscular technique, muscle energy technique and soft tissue release.

Recommended treatment time for Sports Massage is 1 hour though sometimes 30 minutes is sufficient.

Thai Yoga Massage

Thai Yoga Massage is a form of healing that works on both the muscular system and on the 'energy body' to release blockages within our energy channels.

The practitioner uses palming, thumbing and yoga stretches to facilitate energy flow.

The combination of pressure and stretches on the body has a deeply relaxing effect on the whole body.

# Thai Yoga Massage stretching

Thai Yoga Massage enhances our general health and can alleviate conditions such as:

  • stiffness in the body
  • multiple sclerosis
  • stress
  • anxiety
  • general fatigue
  • back and shoulder problems.

The recipient wears loose clothing for the treatment.

The massage is safe and beneficial during pregnancy.

"Thai Yoga Massage is a dynamic form of massage that both energises and heals at the same time as being very pleasurable!"

Recommended time for a Thai Yoga Massage is 1 hour 30 minutes but it is possible to have 1 hour or 2 hours as well.

Thai Herbal Compress Treatment

The treatment combines Thai yoga massage with hot herbal compresses to reduce tension in the muscles and joints and aids deep relaxation as the heat is so soothing and the smell so wonderfully uplifting!

Thai herbal compress massage #

The heated compresses are put directly onto the skin to allow the natural oils of the herbs to penetrate deeply to rejuvenate and balance your body and mind.

The treatment takes an hour or can be combined with a longer Thai yoga massage.

Please add £10 to the standard massage price to allow for the cost of the herbal compresses which you can take home afterwards to use one more time.

The ingredients include tumeric, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, myrtle, camphor and citronella.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage is a wonderful relaxing and rejuvenating massage done in side position unless the client is still comfortable lying on their back as well.

The shoulders get a particularly good massage but essentially all the body is massaged, tailor made to give more attention to areas of more need!
